The M&S project starts as a Strategic Project of UniTn, transversal with respect to the departmental structures, involving about faculty members, PhD students and post-doc from different areas of science and technology. The main focus is on parallel and high performance computing (HPC), including cloud computing and outsourcing.

While representing the main direction of development of M&S methods, these issues are still not very widespread in the university. The goal of the project is to promote advanced calculation methods, through teaching, acquisition of hardware and training of personnel with specific skills, as well as sharing results and calculation tools from different research areas and departments.

To date the M&S project involves 5 departments, and 46 academic staff members. Project activities include HPC Schools (so far in 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022); seminars and yearly project meetings; purchasing of Hardware (contributions to the UniTn computer cluster and several Workstations) and Software (e.g., compilers, MedeA platform); website and repository, benchmarking and outsourcing (Rescale and Azure); support to users of the UniTn computer cluster in Povo.

The ELEDIA Research Center is pleased to announce new updates of the Modeling and Simulation (MAS) project.

MAS is a transversal, strategic project directed by Prof. Paolo Scardi that involves 5 Departments

and 46 academic staff members of the University of Trento.

The main focus is to promote advanced calculation methods

and to exploit parallel and High performance computing (HPC) in different areas of #science and technology.

Some sample applications and results achieved by the Energy and Materials Laboratory and ELEDIA@UniTN

of the Department of Civil, Environmental and Mechanical Engineering (DICAM) have been posted

on the MAS website at https://mas.unitn.it/hpc
